Meet the diverse organizations driving crisis-aid forward
COORDINATOR
Founded in 2007 in Novara, Aurive is a non-governmental social cooperative that empowers young people under 30 with the core skills needed to enter the labor market and engage in active citizenship. The cooperative leads a regional civic network of 74 public and private entities, supporting roughly 300 youth volunteers annually through national civic service programs. Aurive contributes deep expertise in leveraging volunteering as a tool for the social inclusion and soft-skills development of disadvantaged youth.
Established in 2016 with a strong focus on local and international action, Fundacja Understanding is a non-profit foundation based in Kraków, Poland. The organization specializes in managing international projects, courses, and training programs aimed at teachers, adults, and youth, primarily focusing on mental well-being, Nonviolent Communication (NVC), multiculturalism, and multilingualism. Over the last few years, the foundation has actively implemented local integration initiatives for refugee and migrant families in cooperation with entities like the Krakow City Hall, IOM, and UNICEF. Experienced in leading large-scale, innovative Erasmus+ and EEA projects, including award-winning initiatives on psychological resilience - Fundacja Understanding serves as the project leader, overseeing overall coordination, risk management, financial reporting, and the development of psychological research methodologies.
Based in Trofaiach, Austria, InterAktion is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering community involvement and intercultural integration. They have extensive, hands-on experience running long-term youth volunteering programs accredited by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and designing educational resources for the health literacy of youth immigrants. Within this project, InterAktion utilizes its background in social inclusion to lead the recruitment, selection, and educational delivery of the training course.
Located in Kiel, KulturLife is a non-profit youth organization that specializes in international mobility, intercultural communication, and lifelong learning. The organization manages flexible and federally funded volunteering programs (such as weltwärts) that allow young people to engage in global ecological and social projects. KulturLife's involvement bridges their vast international youth mobility network with the partnership, while they take the lead on project branding, dissemination strategies, and international communication campaigns.

The Strategic Synergy of the Consortium
The CO-A-CH-IN-G (CrisisAid) project is powered by a strategic, multidisciplinary European consortium of four established organizations from Poland, Italy, Austria, and Germany, uniting a profound expertise in psychological crisis management with decades of experience running impactful youth volunteering programs. Recognizing that personal and mental health crises transcend borders, this cross-border alliance establishes a resilient network of non-governmental organizations equipped to respond to the post-pandemic anxiety, burnout, and emotional instabilities plaguing Generations Y and Z. The partnership is carefully structured to merge high-level, evidence-based psychological methodologies with extensive, practical youth-mobility networks, effectively transforming volunteering frameworks into highly inclusive spaces that prevent the early dropout of vulnerable young people.

Complementary Strengths and Knowledge Transfer
The structural composition of the consortium ensures a robust transfer of innovative resources and methodologies. Fundacja Understanding (Poland) contributes its extensive background in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) and stress-resilience frameworks from its previous award-winning projects. This scientific foundation is seamlessly scaled and adapted across the partner organizations to directly augment their core youth operations. Concurrently, AURIVE (Italy) embeds its proven "Yes Volunteering" models of utilizing civic engagement to boost job readiness and soft skills. InterAktion (Austria) provides specialized expertise in mobilizing long-term youth projects accredited by the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and driving local inclusion models for immigrant populations. KulturLife (Germany) integrates its vast, federally supported international volunteering network - such as the weltwärts program - bringing a direct, real-world testing ground for the project's educational frameworks.
How We Work Together: Roles & Responsibilities
To bring the CrisisAid project to life, our consortium shares responsibilities based on each organization’s unique strengths. From the initial research to the final European-wide rollout, every partner plays a vital role in making this initiative a success:
Project Leadership & Core Methodology Led by Fundacja Understanding (Poland), our project coordinator. They handle the overall management and financial health of the project to keep us on track. Drawing on their deep background in mental health, they also lead the scientific research and help design the core psychological and educational guides used by our youth workers and volunteers.
Training & Educational Delivery Led by InterAktion (Austria). They act as our educational anchor, designing and managing the application and selection processes for our participants. InterAktion oversees the actual rollout of our hybrid learning and coaching courses, making sure the training is accessible, inclusive, and highly effective.
Real-World Testing & Evaluation Led by AURIVE (Italy). Once the training frameworks are designed, AURIVE takes charge of putting them into practice. They draft the practical guidelines for our pilot coaching programs, coordinate professional supervision for our team, and gather data from across all countries to evaluate our real-world impact.
Branding & European Awareness Led by KulturLife (Germany). To ensure our tools reach the people who need them most, KulturLife manages our public presence. They create our visual branding, build digital campaigns, and share our free educational resources with organizations, youth groups, and communities all across Europe.
